Spok Delivers Better Clinical Communications with Latest Smartphone Messaging App

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 2, 2014-- Spok, Inc. today announced the latest release of its secure messaging app, Spok Mobile™ version 4.0. Spok Mobile gives healthcare providers an efficient, secure messaging platform to share images, videos, and text, and make quick connections for better patient care. In July, USAMobility Wireless and Amcom Software came together under a single brand identity, Spok. Following that announcement, the solution formerly called Amcom Mobile Connect® is now Spok Mobile.

Spok Mobile continues to improve clinical communications by giving providers fast access to the full staff directory and up-to-date on-call schedules. The solution contains prioritized messaging capabilities, full audit trails, and automatic escalations. Complete data encryption, combined with ease of use and clinical workflow enhancements, make Spok Mobile a compelling messaging solution for providers and Information Technology staff.

A key new feature, called Spheres*, lets users create multiple groups of colleagues within the app, and is particularly useful for providers who work at multiple locations or who need to communicate with other providers in the community. Available for free from Apple and Android app stores, the Spheres feature allows clinicians to try Spok Mobile as a stand-alone messaging solution. Other features in the Spok Mobile 4.0 release include user interface (UI) enhancements for a more intuitive experience, user profile enhancements, status settings that clearly show if a provider is available, and a simplified registration process. Spok Mobile 4.0 is available as a hosted cloud-based or on-premise solution.

*Spok Mobile Spheres is a free version of the secure messaging application. It has a limited feature set compared to the full version of Spok Mobile 4.0.
